Dance Conservatory Overview
The vision of K.B. Polk’s dance program is to provide a high-quality learning environment for all students while preparing and empowering each student to pursue their individual goals.
K.B. Polk’s uprising dance program offers classes from various grades with a concentration in ballet, modern, and jazz technique. Our dancers focus on creative movement and various patterns of the body to gain control and find comfortability within themselves, meanwhile, learning movement vocabulary and technique for a strong foundation. Our program has a great focus on somatic practices from Laban Movement Analysis, the method of describing, interpreting, and visualizing movement. These practices transform our dancers from athletes to artists.
The K.B. Polk dance program invests in the student’s talents by providing multiple performance opportunities throughout the year, on and off campus. Along with the provided techniques and performance opportunities, we have a strong belief system in discipline and dance. We provide a safe environment supporting; problem solving, risk taking, and most importantly, personal growth.
We are committed to all students with all levels of experience and encourage you to participate with us here at K.B. Polk!
More About Ms. Amaro
Ms. Amaro is a native of Texas where she earned her B.S. Kinesiology (Dance Science) at Texas A&M University. Her education included learning anatomy and physiology in order for dancers to better understand their bodies in space and be able to prolong their dancing careers. At A&M she was exposed to modern dance and was able to work with people like Jane Weiner from Hope Stone, Inc. (Houston) and Alyson Dolan from Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company (Austin). Her instruction includes levels from fourth through eighth grade with a focus in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Creative Movement. This is Ms. Amaro’s first year here at K.B. Polk and she’s honored to teach the curious/gifted dancers and add to the growing dance program.
